Integrated solutions for energy security in the Kaliningrad region
Pregolskaya TPP — the most powerful plant in the Kaliningrad region, built as part of a state program to develop the Kaliningrad power system — has been put into operation. The new facility consists of four CCGT units with a capacity of 113.8 MW each. All the equipment installed in it was manufactured in Russia. This includes the integrated automation systems, which were designed and configured by ProSoft-Systems specialists. As part of the station's construction, ProSoft-Systems supplied proprietary equipment, installed it and provided a turnkey commission for the following:
- emergency control system
- process data exchange system with system operator
- fault recording system
- transient state monitoring (WAMS)
- smart commercial electricity-metering system
As a result of cooperating with Prosoft-Systems, the customer received a complete automation solution from a single supplier. This approach allowed the project to implement more quickly, provided better manageability, and also made it possible to reduce capital costs of construction. The plan of the Russian Federation Government foresees the construction of four power plants with a combined capacity of 1 GW in the Kaliningrad region. The purpose of these new facilities is to provide a reserve of the exclave power network, irrespective of the BRELL power ring. Two facilities — Mayakovskaya TPP and Talakhovskaya TPP — were put into operation in March 2018. Another — Primorskaya TPP will launch in 2020. ProSoft-Systems specialists also proposed these large-scale projects for the automation of these generation sources.
